It’s that time of year again! We’ve enlisted our Head of Accounting and Budget, Officer Bill, to scrape together the absolute best public procurement notices, notices of intent, and/or requests for proposals from governmental, quasi-governmental, and non-governmental entities from 2024. Please enjoy our much-anticipated end of year roundup and let’s all thank Bill for the exceptional work! Thanks, Bill.
9) Rocky Mountain Laboratories Laundry Services
Starting us off at number 9 is a notice of intent for a lucrative laundry service. According to the posting, “Commercial vendor shall include laundering of laboratory and animal unit clothing and other items…” Now that’s fresh!

8) Trainer, Reef Check Eco Diver Programme
Swimming in at number 8 is a lucrative paid position as a dive trainer for some kind of global reef surveillance program. Apparently Jordan is not completely landlocked. Thanks, UNDP!

7) Telemetry Helicopter Flights for Inventory, and Capture of Gray Wolves Throughout Eastern Oregon
Big Wolf is up to its usual games, a burgeoning industry that is thriving now more than ever. You know what they say: another day full of wolves, another dollar. Apparently the Oregon Department of Fish and WIldlife was/is “seeking a contractor to provide a helicopter, with experienced wolf capture pilot, fuel truck and driver to capture wolves and/or ferry agency biologist to various field locations to collar and collect data in Northeast Oregon” Woof!
Notice posted on March 19th by the Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife
6) Pasture, Carbon and Livestock Monitoring Using Remote Sensing
If you ever thought about creating technology to monitor cows in Mongolia we have good news for you. Our 6th best ranked procurement notice for the year comes to us from UNDP Mongolia and it sounds like a really good time.

5) Pituffik Space Base Sealift
Pfffft, are you kidding me? “Cargo types include but are not limited to, general cargo, lumber, cement, hazardous cargo, pipe, insulation, frozen cargo, chilled/refrigerated cargo, vehicles, heavy machinery, and full 20 and 40-foot containers.“ 3…2…1…Liftoff!
Notice posted on November 8th by the Department of Defense
4) Key Largo Park Pickleball Court Installation
The troubling Pickleball epidemic has reached the sparkling shores of southern Florida. We hope climate change-proofing language was included in the scope of work!
Notice posted on October 20th by the State of Florida Department of Management Services
3) Renew Amphibian Reptile Conservation Center
Coming in at number 3 on our list is a desperate plea from the Smithsonian National Zoo and Conservation Biology Institute to breathe some life into the Amphibian Reptile Conservation Center. Let’s hope this contract worked out, frogs are a national treasure and we would not function as a society without them. Frog education is actually one of the Department of Information’s primary missions. We will not elaborate on this at this time!
Notice posted on June 17th by the Smithsonian’s National Zoo and Conservation Biology Institute
2) Wild Horse Transportation from California to Texas and Tennessee
Our number 2 spot is dedicated to the “36 Horses to Glen Rose, Texas” and “77 Horses to Lebanon, Tennessee” (from Alturas, California). Let’s hope they made it and met a lot of friends along the way.
Notice posted on November 20th by the Forest Service, Department of Agriculture
1) Removal of Disused Sealed Radioactive Sources from Madagascar
Now I know what you’re thinking. “This sounds bad!” and “What are disused sealed radioactive sources, exactly?” Luckily the notice link seems to be broken and we can’t find the original post so I don’t think we need to worry about it! Nice work and congratulations, International Atomic Energy Agency, we hope this worked out for you. You will be receiving your award (a gift card to Outback Steakhouse) in the mail within 10–90 business days.
